AUSTIN, Texas – Fort Hays State Men's Soccer student-athlete Tadhg Walsh was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team for 2024 on Tuesday (Dec. 10). Walsh is the third CSC Academic All-America selection in FHSU Men's Soccer program history and the first since Alec Bevis in 2021. The Academic All-America team is voted on by Sports Information Directors and Athletic Media Relations Directors all throughout NCAA Division II, which combines an athlete's athletic accomplishments along with their academic accomplishments.
 
Walsh also joins Bevis as the only two players in program history to receive Academic All-America and performance All-America honors in the same season. Walsh was named to the D2CCA Men's Soccer All-America Second Team as a midfielder Tuesday (Dec. 10) as well.
 
On the pitch, Walsh remains tied for the national lead in assists this year with 15 as only the national semifinals and final remain in the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. His 15 assists set a new single-season school record at FHSU, passing the old mark of 14 set by Derick Gonzalez in 2017. Walsh led Fort Hays State in points for the 2024 season with 25, adding five goals to his 15 assists. He helped FHSU to its 10^th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in just the 14^th year of the program's existence. The Tigers won their opening round match before falling to McKendree in overtime in the Round of 32. Overall, Walsh is a three-time all-conference selection and a two-time all-region selection to go with his All-America selection this season.
 
In the classroom, Walsh maintained a 3.80 GPA as a Health and Human Performance major at FHSU. The Dublin, Ireland native is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Walsh is the 72nd CSC Academic All-America selection in Fort Hays State's history, with the first occurring back in 1975. FHSU had three selections last year, all in track and field.
