MARYVILLE, Mo. - A trio of multi-athletes representing the Fort Hays State women's track and field team racked up a second-place pentathlon finish as well as a provisional performance Thursday (Feb. 1) at the Bearcat Invite. The senior Taylor Savolt easily surpassed the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying threshold in the pentathlon, with her 3722 point finish on the day.
 
Savolt finished second in the field of 18 competitors with a five-event point total of 3,730, a new season-high for the senior and a total that currently places her in the top 15 nationally. The senior opened the event with a time of 8.87 in the 60m hurdles, collecting a single event point total of 937 points. Later, Savolt led the field in the long jump, compiling a first place finish as well as 738 points with a distance of 18-5.75 feet.
 
Maggie Remsberg finished fourth overall with 3,239 points on the day. She finished top five in two events, the high jump and shot put. The senior was just a little more than 100 points away from a personal best, but will have more chances to accomplish a personal best.
 
Competing in the pentathlon for just the third time collegiately, Kylin Rudzik added 249 points to her previous best point total after placing tenth with 2,868 points. Rudzik accomplished a PR in the 60m hurdles, running in 9.80 for 750 points, while also setting new personal-bests in the 800m run (2:43.08) and shot put (33-4.50 ft.).
 
The three Tigers will join the rest of their teammates at the Washburn Open and Multis Friday-Saturday (Feb. 2-3) in Topeka, Kan.
