The Fort Hays State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are set to compete at a pair of meets in the fourth week of the 2026 regular season, with some athletes traveling to Canyon, Texas for the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi on Thursday and Friday (April 9-10) and others heading to El Dorado, Kan. for the Grizzly Gold Invite.

The group heading to West Texas A&M primarily includes multi-athletes, sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers, while the Tigers competing at Butler County CC will include distance runners and throwers.

The Tigers are off to a strong start to the outdoor season, posting nine national qualifying performances and breaking two school records to date.

Avrey Albright broke a 21-year-old school record in the 400m dash, running in 46.80 to rank seventh in Division II this season.
Emma Slade broke her own school record in the discus, recording a top heave of 162-9 to rank eighth in the country.

Other national qualifying performances came from
Dean Clark in the long jump (24-7, eighth in DII),
Annabeth Baalmann in the pole vault (13-1.5, 10th),
Bradley Nkosi in the 110m hurdles (14.26, 23rd),
Josiah Ball in the pole vault (16-2.75, 24th) and a trio of athletes in the men's javelin -
Jackson Rumford (212-9, 21st),
Dalton Meyers (206-7, 29th) and
Guy Tubbs (198-8, 40th).
