Tiger track and field continues the 2024 outdoor season, sending athletes to three different meets this week including the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (April 11), the Midwest Classic (April 11-12) and the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 11-13).
A contingent of eight Tigers will showcase their prowess at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. Spearheading the men's track events are
Toby Wahlmeier and
Maayan Paz, while
Reba Mader and
Kinley Brown will represent the women.
Annabeth Baalmann, a standout sophomore, is set to captivate in the pole vault event. Gardner, Kan. native
Dayton Williams will high jump for the men, with
Jacob Clark and
Brady Deges set to compete in the pole vault. The men's event squad ranking in the pole vault sits at sixth in the country, as Clark tied his personal best last week in Pittsburg, Kan.
The group at the Bryan Clay Invitational includes seniors
Taylor Savolt and
Maggie Remsberg competing in the heptathlon. One multi in
Ethan Salmans will go in the decathlon, competing in this event for the first time this outdoor season. The senior trio of
Ethan Lang,
Trever Medina and
Aaron Mangan are ready for the 800m, while
Faith Little is set for the women's side. The men's 800m group is ranked as the twelfth best event squad in the nation.
Grant Bradley is competing in the 1,500m, 3,000m SC and 5,000m with
Jaycee Vath,
Darian Hudgeons and
Madison Sutterfield representing the Tiger women distance team. The pole vaulters, led by Clark and Baalmann, will carry forward their momentum from the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate to Azusa, Calif.
The Midwest Classic in Emporia, Kan. beckons the remainder of the team, comprising a contingent of 82 entries across various events.
Tori Poe and
Kenny Fritsch lead the sprint events with stellar performances in the 100m and 200m categories. The men's 800m field boasts three top-ten entry marks, including
Isaac Radke,
Emery Wolfe and Lucerien Deboest.
Noah Morenz, fresh from a commendable second-place finish in Pittsburg, Kan. gears up for the 3,000m Steeplechase.
Addie Berens and
Rhyann Brown, adept javelin throwers, elevate the women's event squad ranking to sixth nationally. There are set to be five multis traveling with the team, with three women set for the heptathlon and two men for the decathlon.
After this three meet endeavor, the team will travel to Kearney, Neb. for the Loper Invitational. This invitational is set for Friday (April 19). The Alex Francis Classic hosted right here in Hays, Kan. will follow and is set for Thursday (April 25).
