Berens and Savolt Selected to CSC Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Fort Hays State had two women named to the CSC Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country Team for 2023-24. Addie Berens is an Academic All-America selection for the second year in a row, while Taylor Savolt received her first CSC Academic All-America selection. Both were third team selections. This award honors a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.
 
Berens is now a two-time third-team selection. She was a three-time All-America performer in the javelin at FHSU and a four-time national qualifier with fourth-place as her highest national finish in 2022. Berens was a four-time All-MIAA performer and a three-time USTFCCCA All-Region performer. Academically, Berens earned the MIAA Scholar-Athlete honor four times and was a seven-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Berens had a 3.78 cumulative GPA as an Elementary Education major at FHSU.
 
Savolt concluded her FHSU career as a three-time All-America performer, twice in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles and once in the indoor pentathlon. She was a five-time NCAA Championships qualifier overall, which included both indoor and outdoor in 2024. Savolt was a seven-time All-MIAA performer, which included five individual events and twice as a member of relay teams. She was a two-time USTFCCCA All-Region performer in the 400-meter hurdles. She was a member of 4x400-meter relay teams that set new school records in 2023 and still stand today. Academically, Savolt earned the MIAA Scholar-Athlete honor four times and was a nine-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. She earned her bachelor's degree in Marketing with a 3.90 cumulative GPA and then her master's degree in Business Administration with a 3.81 GPA.

Berens and Savolt give FHSU its 69th and 70th CSC Academic All-America selections all-time for all sports. FHSU's first CSC Academic All-America selection occurred in 1975. FHSU now has 40 Academic All-America selections since joining the MIAA in 2006-07. The track and field program at FHSU has now received 18 CSC Academic All-America selections all-time.
