Fort Hays State Women's Soccer looks to build on their first win of the season when they travel to Oklahoma for a pair of non-conference matches this week. FHSU faces Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday evening (Sept. 19) at 5 p.m. in Weatherford, then takes on Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday (Sept. 21) afternoon at 2 p.m. in Alva. Live video and stats will be available for both matches.
Fort Hays State enters the week 1-1-2 overall after a scoreless tie with Augustana and a 3-1 win over Southwest Minnesota State last week in South Dakota. Against SMSU the Tigers had 15 total shots with seven on goal.
Britney Arneson netted two of three goals for the Tigers, while
Allison Worley had the other. Gracey Chaney provided a pair of assists in the win off of corner kicks.
Southwestern Oklahoma State enters the match with a 1-2-1 record. SWOSU is also coming off its first win of the season, a 2-1 result over Missouri Southern last weekend in Joplin. It will be the first meeting between the schools in women's soccer.
Northwestern Oklahoma State is currently 1-2-1 after a pair of home matches against Southwestern College and Northeastern State. NWOSU picked up a 2-0 win against Southwestern, but fell short to Northeastern State 3-0. The Tigers are 4-0 against the Rangers all-time. NWOSU is facing Newman University on Wednesday before taking on the Tigers Saturday.
The two matches in Oklahoma this week will be the final non-conference contests of the regular season for FHSU. The Tigers start MIAA play the following week.
