The Fort Hays State volleyball team hits the road for its final regular season road trip this weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) when the Tigers take on Newman and Pittsburg State. The in-state road swing begins in Wichita on Friday at 6 p.m. against the Jets before concluding on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Pittsburg against the Gorillas.

The Tigers head into the weekend 14-8 overall and 3-7 in MIAA play, tied for seventh in the league standings with PSU (9-11, 3-7) and Arkansas-Fort Smith, while Newman is 2-19 on the year and 0-10 in league action.

Fort Hays State is hitting .211 as a team this season, its best attack percentage in nine seasons. The Tigers rank sixth in the MIAA with an average of 16.16 digs per set, led by
Kirsten Evans who is 13th in the league with 3.67 digs per frame.

Gracie Rains paces the squad with 2.77 kills per set, 13th-best in the conference. She is one of seven Tigers averaging 1.5 or more kills per frame.
Ashlyn Reeves averages 0.88 blocks per set, 12th-best in the MIAA.

The Newman Jets have dropped 15 in a row entering the weekend and are 0-5 on the year at home. The Jets rank last in Division II with an opposing hitting percentage of .276 while NU is hitting .116 as a team. Madalyn Hoot ranks fifth in the league with 8.03 assists per set, while Brooklyn Lane is 11th in the league with an average of 3.74 digs per frame.

Fort Hays State is 25-7 all-time against the Jets, including wins in each of the last seven meetings.
Jessica Wood-Atkins is 8-1 against Newman in her time as a Tiger.

Pittsburg State enters the weekend on a two-match winning streak, including a non-conference win over Rockhurst who is receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. The Gorillas lead all DII with 2.92 blocks per set, with Anna Dean leading the MIAA and ranking sixth in the country with 1.45 blocks per set and Don'Yah Cosie ranking third in the conference with an average of 1.21 blocks per frame.

The Tigers hold a 37-35 advantage all-time against the Gorillas, including wins in two-straight contests. The Tigers are 4-7 against PSU under Wood-Atkins, including a 4-3 mark since 2021.
