KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State men's basketball team placed three student-athletes on the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Thursday (April 3) by the league office.
 
Kyle Grill was one of just six players in the conference to earn the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, given to individuals that maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher and pick up All-MIAA status for their performance on the court.
 
Other Tigers listed on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll this year include Petar Asceric and Kaleb Hammeke.
 
To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.
 
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
