Fort Hays State Baseball had three individuals named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the 2025 season on Tuesday (June 3). Earning the distinction were
Trey DeGarmo,
Derek Woolwine, and
Brandon Chavez. DeGarmo was a repeat recipient of the honor, while all three earned All-MIAA selections in 2025 for their performances on the field. The award honors a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.

To be considered for Academic All-District honors, baseball student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and must have played in 90 percent of team games played or start at least 66 percent of the total number of team games played. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. They also must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility.

DeGarmo is now a two-time recipient of this honor. He was an All-MIAA Second Team selection at third base and was the position's Gold Glove Award winner back in 2024. He had a very strong senior season with a .328 batting average, a team-best 62 hits, 13 home runs and 55 RBIs, and he tied for the team lead in runs scored with 44 and walks drawn with 21. DeGarmo led the Tigers in extra-base hits with 25 and notched a team-best 115 total bases and .608 slugging percentage for the year. A native of Andover, Kansas, DeGarmo held a 3.77 GPA as a Technology Studies (Construction Management) major.

Woolwine earns this honor in his first year at FHSU after transferring from Northeast (Neb.) Community College. He was also an All-MIAA Second Team selection, earning the honor as a designated hitter. He posted a .317 batting average with 11 home runs, six doubles, 31 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He ranked second on the team in slugging percentage (.586). A native of Boulder, Colorado, Woolwine held a 3.69 GPA as a Health and Human Performance (Exercise Science) major.

Chavez receives this honor in his first year of eligibility for the award. He was an All-MIAA First Team selection as a relief pitcher, notching nine saves to go with a 6-3 record for the year on the mound. Chavez led the Tigers in appearances with 22, ranked second on the team in wins, and ranked third in innings pitched (51.1). He had a 4.56 ERA for the season and struck out 53 batters, averaging just north of a strikeout per inning (9.3 strikeouts/9 innings). A native of Laramie, Wyoming, Chavez held a 3.5 GPA as a Psychology major.
