KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams placed a combined 35 student-athletes on the 2025 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Wednesday (June 4) by the conference office. The women had 18 athletes mentioned, while the men were represented by 17 individuals.

Six Tigers took home additional honors, including five winners of the MIAA Academic Excellence Award and one recipient of the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award.

Abbye Hudson,
Kylin Rudzik,
Jessica Saunders,
Hayden Albright and
Emery Wolfe all took home the MIAA Academic Excellence Award for continuing to maintain a perfect 4.00 GPA. It is the seventh-such honor for Saunders, a senior thrower from Lehigh, Kan., and the fifth for Rudzik, a junior that competes in the multis from Meade, Kan. Both Hudson, a sophomore distance runner from Cheney, Kan., and Wolfe, a sophomore mid-distance runner from Wamego, Kan., earned the award for the fourth time in their career, while it is the first for Albright, a senior sprinter from Kingman, Kan.

Emily Diercks completed the year-long sweep of the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, picking up the honor in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.

An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
