HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State University Women's Soccer team continues its 2025 season with a pair of non-conference home matches this weekend. The Tigers will host Augustana University on Friday, September 12, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays. On Sunday, September 14, they take on Southwest Minnesota State at 12 p.m.
The Tigers dropped their season opener at Rockhurst on Friday, Sept. 5, by a score of 3-1, then fell 2-1 to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday, Sept. 7 in the home opener. Newcomer
Payton Porter scored the lone goal for FHSU in the match with Rockhurst and
Chaley French notched a goal in the match with Northwestern Oklahoma.
Sydney Cotter provided an assist on each goal and is tied with Porter and French for the team lead in points. Freshman goalkeeper
Hadley Ostrander has 10 saves for the season.
Augustana (1-0-1) opened the 2025 season with a scoreless draw against No. 13 Central Missouri, followed by a 3-1 win over Central Oklahoma, which gave head coach Brandon Barkus his 200th career victory at Augustana. Ally Hamski had two of the three goals against UCO.
Southwest Minnesota State (1-0) opened their regular season with a dominant 6-0 victory over Dakota State. Virginia Pruitt and Brooke Wetterstrom both had two goals in that win. The Mustangs play Upper Iowa at home on Friday before heading to Hays for the match Sunday.
