Women’s Wrestling Moves to No. 11 in Nation, Three Individuals Remain Ranked

MANHEIM, Pa. – Fort Hays State women's wrestling holds a national ranking of No. 11 in the latest poll released by the NWCA on Friday (Jan. 16). The Tigers still have the same three individuals ranked, though with just a slight change. The Tigers held the No. 9 ranking in the previous poll, but have been ranked no lower than No. 13 in the nation this year.

The only change in individual rankings for the Tigers was Isabella Renfro slipping to No. 2 at 180, even though she remains undefeated on the season at 22-0. Though she was inactive for the first semester, defending national champion Kylie Welker of Iowa saw her first action of the season at the NWCA National Duals and went 3-0. She was the top ranked wrestler at the class to start the season, but now that she is active, she is back at No. 1.

Leiannah Landreth (117) and Peyton Hellmann (138) remain in the rankings of their respective classes without change of position. Landreth is No. 8 at 117 and Hellmann is No. 10 at 138. Landreth is 14-5 overall for the season, while Hellmann is 15-3.

Fort Hays State has seen six of its individuals in the national rankings so far this year. Nichole Moore (138) and Hailey Conley (207) started the year ranked in their classes in the preseason poll, but Dylen Ritchey (145), Landreth, Hellmann, and Renfro have all been referenced in regular season polls. Hellmann becomes the sixth Tiger to appear in the polls this year.

Fort Hays State has seven individuals among the regional rankings for Region 6 of the NCAA. Joining the three individuals mentioned above in the region rankings are Kennedy Farrar (103), Morgan Maschmann (124), Dylen Ritchey (145), and Marissa Porsch (160).

The latest Open Mat supplemental poll online, which ranks 20 wrestlers in each class, has eight Tigers in the individual rankings. The Tigers as a team are No. 12 in their tournament rankings and No. 15 in their dual rankings. The individuals ranked are Kennedy Farrar (#17, 103), Leiannah Landreth (#9, 117), Morgan Maschmann (#10, 124), Peyton Hellmann (#20, 138), Dylen Ritchey (#8, 145), Isabella Renfro (#2, 180), and Grace Johns (#20, 207).
