KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State football team placed 36 student-athletes on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Friday (Jan. 9) by the league office.
 
Six Tigers brought home additional recognition, with Ryan Allen, Cale Cormaney, Brandon Kerr, Logan Russell and Josh Shaw all receiving the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award and Tristen Davidson earning the MIAA Academic Excellence Award.
 
Other Tigers named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll included Cody Abston, Reed Adelhardt, Michael Chavez, Aden Cline, Cade Evans, Earl Evoy, Camren Foster, Zane Hall, Caleb Heavner, Jack Hileman, Caiden Hoffman, Mason Hogan, Jackson Kerchal, Gunner Kerr, Tariq Logan, Jacob Mattice, Matthew McBride, Noah McDoulett, Mason McMinn, Keyan Miller, Tyler O'Neil, Michael Polley, RaHeem Ramsey, Dylan Rock, David Sjoberg, Jonah Smith, Wyatt Spexarth, Hosia Stokes, Kooper Tichenor and Keron Watson.
 
An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.
 
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
