HASTINGS, Neb. – Fort Hays State Women's Tennis resumed its 2025-26 season on February 21, winning its first match of its spring slate 7-0 over Hastings College. The Tigers moved to 4-2 overall for the season after going 3-2 in the fall. This was their second win over Hastings this season after winning by the same score in Hays back in the fall.
The Tigers won all but one of the matches contested for the day, dropping only the No. 1 doubles match. The No. 2 team of
Bethan Gill and
Diana Souza and the No. 3 team of
Ines Steeman and
Janae Montoya each won 6-1 to earn the first FHSU team point of the day.
Fort Hays State swept singles play in straight sets. Gill (No. 1),
Ines Latorre (No. 3), and Montoya (No. 4) all limited their opponents to just three games won. Gill won 6-3, 6-0, Latorre won by the same count, and Montoya won 6-2, 6-1.
Molly Gaddis won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, while Steeman won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 and Souza won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
FHSU will go back out on the road March 6-7 to Southwestern College and Evangel University.
