HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University Athletics announced the hiring of
Anjelica Maestas as its Associate Athletic Director for Budget and Planning / Chief Operating Officer. Maestas comes to Fort Hays State from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, where she served as Assistant Business Manager in athletics for three years. She started her position at Fort Hays State in early March of 2026.
Maestas has nearly 10 years of progressive experience in athletics administration, which includes leadership roles in budgeting, operations, facility coordination, championship management, and HR oversight. In addition to her time at the University of Northern Colorado, where she has served in her current role since 2023, she has spent time as a Digital Platform Director with the Colorado High School Activities Association, an Assistant Athletic Director at North Canyon High School in Arizona, and an intern with Triple Crown Sports in Arizona.

In her most recent role, Maestas oversaw day-to-day functions of the athletics business office, while collaborating closely with administrators, coaches, and campus partners to support financial planning and ensure all departments meet NCAA, institutional, and state requirements. Her past roles included extensive experience with event management, operations planning, and facility oversight in both collegiate and high school settings, as well as oversight of championship operations.
Maestas earned her master's degree in Sport Management from the University of Northern Colorado. She also earned her bachelor's degree in Sport and Exercise Science/Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
