Ines Steeman prior to the match, the lone senior on this year's Tiger squad. The Bronchos took the match 7-0.
The Bronchos took all three doubles matches. The team of
Bethan Gill and
Diana Souza took two games off of the No. 6 ranked duo in the nation, Mei Hasagawa and Pete Komada. Steeman joined
Janae Montoya at the No. 3 position and won three games.
Ines Latorre and
Molly Gaddis took one game in their match at the No. 2 position.
Gill gave Hasagawa, the No. 20 ranked player nationally in singles, a good fight in the first set, falling short 6-4 before Hasagawa cruised in the second set. Montoya also put up a strong fight in the second set of her match at No. 2, winning four games. Steeman took three games within her match at the No. 3 position. Souza played the No. 4 position, but did not pick up any game points in her match. FHSU was open at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions due to injury.
The Tigers are planning to begin their match with Newman at 11 a.m. on Saturday, moved up an hour due to possible weather.
