Progress Toward Degree Requirements
Student-athletes must pass 24 credit hours annually with a minimum of 18 credit hours passed during the fall and spring semesters.
*Must pass at least 9 hours in order to be eligible for competition in the following semester.*
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA required at all grade levels
Hours earned or accepted for degree credit
- During the first two years of enrollment (4 semesters), you may use credits acceptable toward any of FHSU’s degree programs.
- Beginning with their fifth semester, student-athletes are required to have declared a major. All hours taken from this point forward must apply toward the declared program of study for PTD requirements. A maximum of 6 hours toward a minor may be taken each semester provided that minor has been declared with the Registrar’s Office PRIOR to the start of the semester.
Remedial Courses
- Credit in remedial courses shall not exceed 12 credit hours and must be taken during a student-athlete’s first academic year of collegiate enrollment. If a student-athlete is required to take Intermediate Algebra, Basic Writing, etc., these must be taken during their freshman year to count for PTD.
- If these courses are taken after the first two full-time semesters of college, additional courses will need to be taken during the same academic year in order to meet PTD requirements.
Enrollment Level
- Student-athletes must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours undergraduate/9 credit hours graduate) at all times in order to practice or compete. If a student-athlete plans to drop a course, they will need to check with compliance staff to make sure it will not affect their eligibility.
Seasons of Eligibility/Full-time Semesters
- Student-athletes have 10 full-time semesters to use their 4 seasons of eligibility in each sport. This includes full-time semesters and seasons of eligibility used at other schools (2-year or 4-year).
