Adrian Pilkington

Adrian Pilkington enters her 12th season as head softball coach at Fort Hays State University in 2026. She has guided FHSU to 245 wins over 11 seasons and a six appearances in the MIAA Tournament. She is the all-time coaching wins leader in FHSU Softball history.

In 11 years, Fort Hays State has enjoyed 31 All-MIAA selections under Pilkington's guidance with appearances in the MIAA Tournament in 2015, 2016, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The Tigers produced their best record under Pilkington during the 2023 season, going 31-24 overall. The Tigers have won at least 23 games each year since 2019, excluding the COVID-19 pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

Pilkington returned to Fort Hays State after spending two years as an assistant coach at Emporia State University under Julie LeMaire, a former FHSU head coach. She helped the team compile an overall record of 87-34, including NCAA Central Region appearances both years. The 2014 ESU team won the MIAA regular season title, and boasted the No. 1 ranked pitcher nationally in wins (Kaitlyn Caston – 36 wins) and two All-Americans (Stephanie Goodwin and Jessica Gragg).
 
As an assistant, Pilkington was responsible for helping with all areas of the softball program, specifically as the outfield coach and lending a hand in pitching, infield and hitting, as well as strength and conditioning. Additionally, Pilkington assisted with recruiting and budget management, while handling the daily operations of the office – fundraising, travel, academics and scheduling.
 
Prior to Emporia State, Pilkington served two years as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Fort Hays State under LeMaire (2011) and Erin Kinberger (2012), coaching 15 All-MIAA performers and helping the squad to a combined 61-41 record over two years.
 
Pilkington brought a successful track record to the Tigers, having been an All-MIAA performer at FHSU. She helped coach teams to at least 30 wins in all four of her years as an assistant at the collegiate level (148-75 overall).
 
Pilkington (formerly Mohr) competed for the Tigers from 2007-10 as an outfielder and pitcher, finishing with a career batting average of .304. Her name is listed in the Tigers’ career top 10 lists for for doubles (44), runs batted in (121), triples (10), total bases (306), runs scored (116), hits (197), home runs (15) and games played (201). In the pitching circle, Mohr picked up 28 wins and threw 37 complete games, striking out 199 batters and tallying two saves in 374 innings pitched.
 
In her four years wearing a Tiger uniform, Pilkington earned the Impact Player Award (2007) and Unsung Hero Award (2009) by her team, in addition to being named the team’s Most Valuable Player her senior year (2010). During her senior year, she was an All-MIAA First Team selection after hitting .360 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles, and three triples with 50 runs batted in, while scoring 44 runs and stealing 11 bases.  Her .657 slugging percentage led the team as well that year.
 
A native of Thornton, Colorado, Pilkington holds two degrees from Fort Hays State University, completing her bachelor’s in Recreation and Sport Management (2010) and a master’s in Exercise Science (2012). She and her husband Blake have two children and reside in Hays.
