Amanda Vaupel is in her first year as the Softball Graduate Assistant at Fort Hays State. She graduated from Fort Hays State in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Biology.
While at Fort Hays State, Vaupel was a four year starter in centerfield for the Tigers. Doing her time with the Tigers she helped them accomplish an overall record of 134-78, as well as an appearance in the 2013 NCAA Central Regional Final. That same 2013 season set the record for most wins by any softball team at Fort Hays State.
Vaupel is in the top ten in FHSU history in almost every offensive category. She is 5th in career hits (195), 6th in career runs (97), 6th in career doubles (36), 2nd in career RBI’s (123), 5th in single season RBI’s (47), 5th in career total bases (292), 4th in career home runs (19), and 6th in career sacrifice hits (16).
As a freshman in 2012 Vaupel earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention by playing all 50 games, batting .333 with 51 hits, 26 RBI’s, six doubles, and two home runs.
In her sophomore season Vaupel was an All-MIAA Second Team selection as well as a Second Team All-Region selection. During this campaign she finished the year with a .339 batting average, six home runs, nine doubles, one triple, 47 RBI, 30 runs scored, and a .497 slugging percentage.
During her junior season, Vaupel received her third straight All-MIAA selection and her second Honorable Mention. She ended the year with a .307 batting average, .512 slugging percentage, and a team leading four home runs.
Vaupel closed out her career at Fort Hays State with her third All-MIAA Honorable Mention and her fourth All-MIAA selection overall. During her final campaign she had a .256 batting average, seven home runs, nine doubles, and 30 RBI’s.
Vauple also added two MIAA Academic Honor Roll honors during her junior and senior seasons.
From Overland Park, Kan. Vaupel is working towards a Master’s degree in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State.
