Amy Ekart is in her second year as the Assistant Softball coach for the Fort Hays State softball team. She was a four year letter winner as a catcher at Boston University, and graduated in 2014 with a degree in Health Sciences.
While at BU, Ekart helped the Terriers to a 130-82-1 record and two NCAA Regional Tournament appearances (2012, 2013). She posts a career batting average of .265 and is 6th all-time in career home runs (21) at BU, 5th in career doubles (32), and tied for 9th in career RBI’s (106).
Ekart received several awards for her playing days with the Terriers including, 2x American-East All-Tournament Team (2011 & 2012), American East All-Conference Second Team (2011), 2011 American East All-Rookie Team (2011), and American East Rookie of the Week honors for the week of 5/3/11.
Ekart excelled not only on the field but in the classroom also. As a senior she was a member of the Patriot League Honor Roll as well as being named an NFCA Honor Roll All-American.
In her first year at Fort Hays State Ekart helped the Tigers accomplish a 26-27 overall and 14-12 in the MIAA.
From Berthoud, Colo., Ekart is working towards a Master’s degree in Public Health from Fort Hays State while continuing to help the Softball program grow.    Â
