Tanner Christensen has been named Athlete of the Week for his performance with the FHSU men’s cross country team. Christensen helped the Tigers to a second place finish at the FHSU Tiger Open at Sand Plum Nature Trail in Victoria.
 
Christensen paced the Tigers with a second place finish, passing teammate Cory Keehn just before the duo got to the finish line. Christensen covered the 8k course in 24:31 and Keehn was right behind at 24:32. Christensen was just seven seconds off the pace of winner Ryan Darling from Northwest Missouri State, who ran a 24:24.
 
The Tigers placed second with 41 points, just four points off the win. Northwest Missouri State totaled 37 points to get the win.
 
The Tigers return to action on Oct. 20 at the MIAA Championships in Maryville, Mo. The event starts at 10 a.m.
