The Fort Hays State softball team opens its 2011 season on Saturday (Feb. 12) at Colorado Mines in Golden, Colo. The doubleheader with the Orediggers starts at 1 pm central/12 pm mountain time.

After the doubleheader Saturday, the Tigers head just a few miles east back to the heart of Denver to play at No. 15 ranked Metro State. That doubleheader also starts at 1 pm central/12 pm mountain time.

The Tigers are coming off a 31-21 season in 2010. Head coach Julie LeMaire enters her third year at the helm. FHSU returns several of their key players from a team that finished third in the MIAA during the regular season. The Tigers are picked to finish third again this year in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
