Box Score Box Score

The Tiger softball team got one game in on Saturday (Mar. 19) in Springfield, Mo., before rain and lighting came to the area to wash out their second game. Fort Hays State fell to Central Missouri by a score of 7-2. The second game scheduled against Southwest Baptist will not be made up. Sunday's scheduled games are still on as planned.

The Jennies jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Tigers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth on a throwing error with runners at second and third. Central Missouri pushed its lead to 7-1 with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth by Jaydee Young. Malinee Powell produced Fort Hays State's only other run with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth.

FHSU pitcher Kayla Rupa threw a complete game. Five of the seven runs she allowed were earned. She allowed seven hits and one walk, while striking out two. She is now 5-6 on the season.

Sarah Espy went the distance for UCM allowing eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Stranded baserunners hurt the Tigers as they left eight on compared to just two for UCM.

FHSU faces Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State on Sunday with the games at 10 am and noon.
