Box Score 2 The Fort Hays State softball team dropped its first two home games of the season on Friday (Mar. 25) to 24th-ranked Nebraska-Omaha by scores of 4-2 and 5-3. It was the conference opening doubleheader for both teams. Fort Hays State is now 12-10 overall and 0-2 in the MIAA, while Nebraska-Omaha improved to 23-5 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA.

FHSU pitcher
Kayla Rupa was cruising along after allowing the first run in the second, but ran into trouble in the sixth. A single and a walk set up a three-run homer off the bat of Amber Lutmer for UNO which decided the game.
Rupa moved to 7-7 on the season with the loss. All four runs she allowed were earned. She allowed seven hits with two walks, while striking out seven.
Beth Haley got the win for UNO. She allowed eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Game 2: Nebraska-Omaha 5, FHSU 3

The Tigers could not recover from a 5-0 deficit in the nightcap, falling by two runs once again. Amber Lutmer put UNO up 1-0 in the second with an RBI double. A pair of errors on one play in the fifth led to four UNO runs (three unearned).
The Tigers picked up all three of their runs in the sixth on a bases-clearing double by
Malinee Powell, but could not put together another rally in the seventh.
Maddie Holub took the loss for FHSU, now at 5-3 on the season. She allowed five hits and six walks, while striking out three. Just two of the five runs she allowed were earned.
Lindsey Slocum picked up the win for UNO. She held FHSU hitless through 4.2 innings. She allowed four hits and three walks, while striking out six.
The Tigers host Northwest Missouri State in another conference doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 26) at 12 pm.
