The Fort Hays State softball team dropped their second MIAA series of the weekend on Saturday (March 26) at Tiger Stadium. Northwest Missouri State defeated the Tigers 2-1 and 10-8. Fort Hays State is now 12-12 on the year and 0-4 in MIAA conference play.

Fort Hays State got off to a hot start, with Maddy Holub hitting a solo home run over the right field fence in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The offense sputtered from there, producing four hits over the next three innings and none in the final three innings.
Northwest Missouri State scored one run in the fourth and another in the fifth on a single by Angela Wright. Jenna Creger pitched a complete game for the Bearcats, giving up only the one run.
Kayla Rupa took the loss for FHSU and falls to 7-8 on the year after giving up eight hits and two runs while striking out three.

The Tigers fell behind 5-0 early after the Bearcats scored in each of the first three innings. Fort Hays State would battle back and take the lead in the fifth on an RBI single by
Adriana Wortley. A double from
Erin Dyok in the bottom of the 6th pushed the FHSU lead to 8-5 going into the final inning.
That is where things went south for the Tigers. Dacey Hassey hit a three-run home run to tie the game at 8-8 and a triple from Cassie Curtis three batters later put the Bearcats ahead with the winning margin of 10-8. Jenna Creger pitched the final two innings to get the win, while
Maddie Holub took the loss.
