Box Score 2 The Fort Hays State softball team split another conference doubleheader on the road Saturday (Apr. 23) at Southwest Baptist. The Tigers thrashed the Bearcats in game one 12-1 by run-rule in five innings, but fell in the nightcap by getting one-hit in a 2-0 loss. Fort Hays State is now 22-20 overall and 7-11 in the MIAA.

Maddie Holub home run to leadoff the game set the tone in a blowout win by the Tigers. Holub, along with
Malinee Powell and
Kayla Rupa each had two RBI in the game. Holub's second RBI came on another solo home run in the third. She finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate.
Britney Workman and
Adriana Wortley each had one RBI.
Holub did enough with her bat to help her own cause in the pitching circle, moving to 10-7 on the season. She allowed three hits and three walks, while striking out seven.
Game 2: Southwest Baptist 2, FHSU 0

After pounding out 13 hits in the first game, the Tigers could not solve SBU starter Josie Rose in the second game. Rose held the Tigers to just one hit in a 2-0 shutout.
Danie Brinkmann came up with that hit in the fourth, a single. The Tigers never had a baserunner past second in the game.
A hit batter and single led to a two-out, two-RBI double by the Bearcats in the third that decided the game.
Fort Hays State starter
Kayla Rupa went to 12-13 on the season with her second straight 2-0 loss in as many days. She allowed just four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Rose struck out 12 Tigers in her one-hit shutout.
