Box Score 2 The Tiger softball team bettered its cause for a conference tournament spot with a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln in Hays on Friday (Apr. 29). The Tigers took game one 4-1 and escaped a bases loaded situation in the last inning of game two to win 4-3. Fort Hays State moved to 24-20 overall and 9-11 in the MIAA with the wins.
Game 1: FHSU 4, Lincoln 1

Maddie Holub had a strong outing in the pitching circle with a 10 strikeout performance to lift FHSU to a 4-1 win. She allowed just three hits in the game and the only run allowed was unearned. She moved to 11-7 with the win.
FHSU took an early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by
Britney Workman. After Lincoln tied the game in the fourth on a passed ball, the Tigers grabbed the lead back in the bottom half of the inning on a squeeze bunt by
Adriana Wortley. The Tigers tacked on to their lead with a pair of runs in the fifth on a
Danie Brinkmann RBI single and
Malinee Powell sacrifice fly RBI.
Game 2: FHSU 4, Lincoln 3

The Tigers looked to be on their way to another 4-1 victory in the second game, but ran into trouble in the seventh as Lincoln scored twice but ended the game on a pop up with the bases loaded.
Just like in game one, the Tigers took the early 1-0 lead in the second with an RBI groundout by
Kayla Rupa following a
Britney Workman triple. Lincoln tied the game in the top of the third, but the Tigers immediately took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs.
Sara Tani scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch, then
Malinee Powell had a two-RBI single later in the inning.
The teams went scoreless until the Lincoln rally in the seventh. A one out double by Clair Lorenz plated two runs and put the pressure on. A couple of hit batters loaded the bases, but pitcher
Kayla Rupa got the final out with a pop up in foul territory on the infield.
Rupa moved to 13-13 with the complete game win. She yielded eight hits and three runs with no walks, while striking out three.
