Box Score Already up 34-27 at halftime, the Fort Hays State women's basketball team outscored Texas-Permian Basin, 29-16, in the second half, including a 10-0 run to end the game, and pulled away for a 63-43 victory at the second day of the Topeka Capital Plaza Thanksgiving Classic, hosted by Washburn.
The Tigers upped their record to a perfect 6-0 and are 6-0 for the second straight season. FHSU went 2-0 at the Topeka Capital Plaza Thanksgiving Classic with two blowout wins.
The start was back-and-forth with each team leading multiple times in the first five minutes. The Tigers, however, went up 8-7 at the 14:35 mark of the first half on two
Kate Lehman free throws and never relinquished the lead for the remaining of the game. In the first half, the Tigers pushed the margin to as high as eight points. FHSU led by seven at the break, 34-27.
To start the second half, Fort Hays went on an 11-2 run with five different Tigers scoring during the stretch. A
Taylor Chandler layup put FHSU up 16 at 45-29 with 12:36 left.

The Falcons slowly cut into the lead, closing to within single digits at 57-39 at the 6:25 mark. In the final 3:42, FHSU doubled its lead from 53-43 to 63-43 with a 10-0 run to end the game.
Lehman finished with her second straight double-double, totaling 10 points and 13 rebounds. She added a game-high four blocks. Edwards poured in a game-high 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Brown was the third Tiger in double figures with 10 points and a game-high four assists.
A strong Tiger defense held UTPB to 29.5 (18-61) percent shooting in the game and only 43 points. Teisha King was the only Falcon in double figures with 10 points.
The Tigers held a huge advantage at the free throw line, going 22-25 (88 percent) from the line. The Falcons were just 4-8 (50 percent).
Fort Hays State returns home to start the MIAA schedule on Wednesday, December 5 against the Jennies of Central Missouri. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. from Gross Memorial Coliseum.
