The Fort Hays State softball team, who started the conference season with a sweep of Washburn last weekend, will host two more home doubleheaders this weekend. Central Missouri visits Hays on Friday (March 16) for games starting at 3:00 pm before Southwest Baptist comes to town on Saturday (March 17) to play starting at 1:00 pm. The Tigers are 14-6 (2-0 MIAA) on the year and they are one of four teams who started the conference season with a sweep last weekend.

Both Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist are looking for their first conference win after dropping two series last weekend. Keep in mind that both teams faced Missouri Western and Emporia State, the league's preseason No. 1 and No. 2 teams, to open the season. Central Missouri picked up a sweep over Rockhurst on Wednesday to improve their record to 11-11 overall while Southwest Baptist got two wins over Wisconsin-Parkside on Tuesday and the Bearcats are now 7-11.

Fort Hays State has had the week off after picking up two come-from-behind wins over Washburn last weekend. The Tigers lead the MIAA in fielding percentage (.969), rank third in team batting (.300) and fifth in team pitching (3.75 ERA). FHSU has three players that rank in the top 10 in the conference in hitting, with Maddie Holub and Amanda Vaupel both hitting .400 and Adriana Wortley not far behind at .391. Holub leads the team in hits (26) and home runs (5) and is tied with Vaupel for the team lead in RBI (15). She also leads the team and ranks fourth in the MIAA with a slugging percentage of .677.

The Tigers have also relied on Holub's arm heavily, and she has responded with a league-leading 130 strikeouts to date. Holub has an 8-4 record on the year to go along with the first two saves of her career in 14 appearances. Her ERA of 2.36 ranks among the top 10 in the conference. Abby Morrison and Kaitlyn Shattleroe have combined to make nine starts this year, going 6-2 in those games.
