The Fort Hays State men's track and field team had their last chance to set marks for the NCAA Outdoor Championships this weekend at the Sam Williams Twilight Qualifier in Emporia, Kan. In the javelin,
Jake Durham went over 200 feet, going 201-6 to hit a provisional mark.
Durham, a sophomore from Sterling, Kan., had his best performance of the year with his 201-6 throw. The mark is the 20
th best in Division II this season and a provisional. Durham won the event by three feet over Garrett Cantrell of Pittsburg State.
Although it was not a provisional time,
Tanner Christensen won the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:56. Christensen beat two other runners in the event.
Bryant Bombardier and
Jordan Carlisle each went 6-6 in the high jump. Carlisle, a freshman from St. Joseph, Mo., currently ranks 16
th in Division II this season with a season-best mark of 6-10.75.
The Tigers now prepare for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. The event starts on May 24 in Pueblo, Colo.
