The Fort Hays State women's soccer team is home today (Sept. 24) in non-conference action against Friends University at 4 p.m. at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.
The Tigers, currently 4-3 and 1-2 in the MIAA, went 0-1 this weekend as FHSU traveled to Missouri Southern and fell, 2-1, on a late goal by the Lions. After falling behind, 1-0, the Tigers got on the board with a goal from
Sade Humphrey with the assist going to
Jordan Hester. The 1-1 tied did not last as MSSU scored in the 82nd minute on a header off a corner kick.
Friends is 1-4 and 0-3 on the road. The Falcons defeated Central Christian College, 2-1, to start the season and have dropped four straight since that win. Friends lost to Park (12-1), Rogers State (7-0), Bellevue (4-0) and Benedictine (12-0). The Falcons are coached by Nathan Wilkey, who is in his first season at Friends.
The match is the first of three straight home matches for the Tigers. After today's match, FHSU takes on Washburn on Friday (Sept. 28) at 6 p.m. Emporia State comes to Hays on Sunday (Sept. 30) for a 2 p.m. tilt.
