Box Score Fort Hays State University used double-digit scoring from five separate players in a 109-45 victory over Oklahoma-Panhandle State on Saturday evening inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.
 
FHSU improves to 2-0 on the season and hit over 45 percent from the field for the second straight game.  The Tigers finished at 47.4 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from long range.

OPSU (0-3) was limited to just 27.3 percent from the field while committing 17 turnovers. 
 
Katelyn Edwards' double-double paced the Tigers, as she led the team with 23 points and 12 rebounds.  Edwards hit 58.3 percent of her field goals (7-of-12) and was 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.
 
Kate Lehman just missed a double- and triple-double, racking up 15 points while pulling down nine rebounds and swatting nine shots – which tied a career-high.  All nine blocks came in the second half, six of which occurred in a span of three minutes.
 
Newcomers Chelsea Mason and Jill Faxon contributed to the 44 total bench points for the Tigers.  Faxon hit 3-of-4 from long range en route to a 21-point performance and Mason had 11 points in 17 minutes of action.
 
Tera Ingalsbe reached a career-high with 15 points in 16 minutes and Taylor Chandler hit double-digits with 10 points.
 
Beth Bohuslavsky and Nikola Kacperska played well from the point, totaling five and six assists, respectively.
 
Sophomore Paige Lunsford played 19 minutes and grabbed nine boards – second on the team in that category.
 
Though they never trailed after using a Bohuslavsky three-pointer to jump ahead, 3-0, the Tigers would start slow, leading by just two (17-15) at the 11:38 mark of the first half. 
 
That rocky start, however, smoothed at 8:52 when a free throw by Lehman sparked a 14-0 run that lasted five minutes and 34 seconds a propelled the Tigers to a 36-18 lead. 
 
After the lead stretched to 22, OPSU's Sarah Johnson hit a jumper with three seconds remaining in the half, putting the score at 46-26 for intermission.
 
Out of the break, OPSU hit two free throws in the first minute, but wouldn't score again for nearly seven minutes as another Bohuslavsky basket sparked the largest Tiger run of the evening – a 20-point spurt of unanswered buckets.  Lehman had six blocks in that span as well, limiting the Aggies opportunities in the paint.
 
The Tigers have now won 10 consecutive home openers and six straight under the direction of Tony Hobson.
 
FHSU returns to the court Tuesday, Nov. 19 against Bethel College in Hays, Kan.  Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
