Box Score 2 The Fort Hays State softball team opened the Bentonville Tournament in Bentonville, Ark. with a pair of wins Friday (Feb. 15). The Tigers defeated Southern Arkansas 7-0 in their first game of the day, then turned around to defeat Arkansas-Monticello 3-1. Fort Hays State remained perfect on the year at 4-0.

In the first game of the day,
Paxton Duran went the distance for the Tigers in the pitching circle, recording the first complete-game shutout of her collegiate career. She scattered seven hits, walked four, and struck out five, moving to 2-0 on the season.
Danie Brinkmann triggered the offense in the first inning with a two-run home run.
Bianca Adame pushed the lead to 3-0 with a RBI single in the second. Duran helped her own cause with a squeeze bunt RBI in the third and
Tori Beltz followed with an RBI double to make it 5-0. Duran and Beltz padded the Tiger margin more in the fifth with back-to-back RBI doubles. Brinkmann finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, adding three singles with her first-inning homer.
Fort Hays State 3, Arkansas-Monticello 1
Fort Hays State remained perfect on the season with a 3-1 win over Arkansas-Montcello in the second contest of the day.
Danie Brinkmann gave FHSU the lead 1-0 in the first with an RBI double and
Callie Wright made it 3-0 with a two-RBI single in the fourth to generate the Tiger side of the scoring.
Maddie Holub allowed just two hits in a complete game effort with 10 strikeouts, moving to 2-0 on the year. She did not allow an earned run for the second straight game. The only run allowed to the Cotton Blossoms was in the fourth on a fielding error.
Fort Hays State takes on Southwestern Oklahoma State and Henderson State (Ark.) on Saturday.
