Fort Hays State, fresh off of a 6-2 showing in Florida this past week, heads to Wichita, Kan. on Tuesday to face Newman University in a doubleheader. Fort Hays State enters at 13-3 overall. Fort Hays State plays three doubleheaders in Kansas this week, travelling to Emporia State Friday and Washburn on Saturday to open MIAA play.

Fort Hays State posted a pair of wins over Top 25 teams this past week in Florida and enters this week with the top overall winning percentage in the MIAA. Fort Hays State has held opponents to one run or less in 11 contests this year, which includes seven shutouts.

Tiger pitching has stepped up in the early season. The Tigers lead the MIAA in team ERA at 1.14. Maddie Holub did not allow an earned run in her first 40 innings this season, but allowed just three over her last two contests. She has a record of 7-0 and a season ERA of 0.41. She has struck out at least 10 batters in all seven of her starts this year and averages 12.2 strikeouts per seven innings. Over the week in Florida, Holub passed the 700 strikeout mark for her career at FHSU, now with 718.

Freshman Paxton Duran has also impressed in the circle, currently at 5-3 overall with a 1.50 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 51.2 innings. She has six complete games this season.
