The 11th-ranked Fort Hays State softball team has been on the road for the majority of the 2013 season, but finally plays a pair of home games on Friday afternoon (Mar. 22) against Northeastern State in MIAA play. The doubleheader with the Riverhawks is set to start at 2 pm. FHSU enters with a record of 22-4 overall, 4-0 in the MIAA, while NSU enters at 9-15 overall, 1-3 in the MIAA.
Fort Hays State nearly ran off 10 straight wins on the road over the past week and a half, but fell in its final road game on Wednesday at Metro State. A nine-game win streak by the Tigers set a new school record for consecutive wins. Four conference wins were part of that streak, including pairs of wins at Emporia State and Washburn.
FHSU enters this doubleheader alone in first place in the MIAA in the early portion of the conference slate. Northeastern State has dropped 11 of its last 13 contests entering Friday, but picked up a win in its last game against Missouri Southern in conference action.
