Fort Hays State softball picked up a pair of shutout wins on Thursday (Mar. 7) at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The Tigers defeated Post University (Conn.) by a score of 3-0, then defeated University of Mary (N.D.) 1-0. Fort Hays State improved to 10-2 overall with the wins.

After falling just one out short of shutting out Tampa on Wednesday,
Paxton Duran rebounded from a tough loss to shutout Post University in the first game of the NTC Spring Games for FHSU. She threw her sixth complete game and third shutout of the season, going 7.0 innings with eight strikeouts, while scattering five hits with four walks. Duran pitched out of a pair of bases loaded situations in the second and third innings before the Tiger offense awakened in the fourth.
Maddie Holub broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run, her second of the season. In the fifth,
Bianca Adame plated a run with a RBI bunt single.
Fort Hays State 1, University of Mary 0
Maddie Holub pitched her fifth complete game and fourth shutout of the season against University of Mary. Coming off a big shutout win over No. 11 Tampa on Wednesday, Holub pushed her streak of consecutive innings without allowing an earned run this season to 37. She struck out 12 and walked just one, while allowing two hits to move to 5-0 on the season.
Holub helped her own cause in the fifth with a RBI single to plate
Kellsi Olsen, the only run of the game.
Fort Hays State is scheduled to meet Saint Anselm and Wayne State College (Neb.) on Friday.
