The 18th-ranked Fort Hays State softball team heads to Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday (Apr. 24) for its final road doubleheader in MIAA play at 1 pm. Down to just four games left in conference and the regular season, the Tigers need a strong week to possibly catch Central Oklahoma for the MIAA regular season crown. Fort Hays State enters the week just one game back of the Bronchos.
Fort Hays State, which has already passed the school record for wins in a season, enters the week at 38-8 overall and 18-4 in the MIAA. Central Oklahoma is 19-3 in conference play, but will have tough competition on its home field this weekend in Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State. The Tigers have plenty to play for this week, still in the hunt for a conference regular season crown and to stay at the top of the Central Region Rankings. Fort Hays State was referenced as the top team in the Central Region last Wednesday (Apr. 17). A new set of region rankings are due out on Wednesday, while the Tigers are in action at Nebraska-Kearney.
