Holub Named to CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Second Team

Fort Hays State senior Maddie Holub was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Second Team on Wednesday (May 22). Holub is the first-ever CoSIDA Academic All-American for the Tiger Softball program. Holub adds this honor to her impressive collection of honors for 2013, which includes the MIAA Player and Pitcher of the Year, NFCA and Daktronics All-Central Region First Team, and Daktronics Central Region Pitcher of the Year.

To go along with her impressive athletic accolades on the field, Holub carries a 3.68 GPA as a Health and Human Performance major at FHSU. She was a 2013 FHSU Torch Award Nominee for outstanding student academics and leadership. She will also receive the MIAA Scholar Athlete Award later this summer for the second year in a row, awarded to athletes that are selected as All-MIAA performers in their respective sport and have a 3.50 or higher GPA.

Holub becomes the 38th CoSIDA Academic All-American selection in Fort Hays State's history. She is the second selection this academic year for Fort Hays State after Jesse Trent earned the honor in football for the 2012 season. FHSU had three during the 2011-12 academic year with Alex Whitehill (football), Traci Keyser (women's basketball), and Makayla McPhail (women's track and field). Fort Hays State now has nine CoSIDA Academic All-American selections since joining the MIAA in 2006-07.
