Fort Hays State Softball heads to St. Paul, Minn., this weekend for a five-game tournament, Feb. 23-24. The two-day event, hosted by Minnesota Duluth, will feature FHSU, UMD, Minot State, University of Mary and Lincoln.
All five games on the weekend will be regional matchups for FHSU, as the NSIC is a regional partner of the MIAA.
FHSU (7-1) last played Friday (Feb. 21) with a doubleheader against Rockhurst. FHSU swept the action, winning Game 1, 9-0 in six innings, and Game 2, 6-4.

U-Mary started the season at the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas, picking up its lone win over Simon Fraser. U-Mary fell to MIAA foe Central Oklahoma at the tournament as well. Allison Brown is hitting .412 with five RBI and one double to lead the team - adding five stolen bases (in six attempts) as well. Erin Keene's .385 average is second on the team, as she has a double and four RBI to go with two stolen bases (on two attempts). In the circle, Cherlyn Trujillo has pitched a majority of the innings (19.0) and has a 1-2 record. Trujillo's 3.68 ERA has come with nine strikeouts.

Minot State competed at the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., to start the season, going 2-3 with wins over Azusa Pacific and Western Oregon. One of the three Minot State losses came to MIAA opponent Central Oklahoma. The Beavers' Mindy Lorimor is 2-2 on the season with a 1.72 ERA and nine strikeouts to lead the team. Offensively, Ali Cygan is hitting .438 with two RBI and Jen Dixon has four RBI, a double and a home run with a .284 batting average.

UMD played eight games at the 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark., last weekend, splitting with a .500 record. UMD knocked off Nebraska Kearney, but fell to Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State of the MIAA. Sami Schnyder is hitting .400 with three RBI for the Bulldogs, followed by Jordan Rice's .391 average with two home runs, two doubles and five RBI. Rice's .739 sluggling percentage leads the team. From the rubber, Cayli Sadler is 3-3 with a 2.90 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
