No. 13 Fort Hays State Softball hits the road this week for a six-game road trip, beginning with a doubleheader with Arkansas Tech on Wednesday (March 19) in Russellville, Ark.  Game times are slated for 2 and 4 p.m.
 
The Tigers (15-8, 5-3 MIAA) split a doubleheader with Washburn in its last time out, winning the second game by a score of 4-2 as Paxton Duran pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts.
 
At the plate, FHSU has been led this season by Duran's .444 batting average to go with three doubles and one home run.  Courtney Dobson is tied for second on the team with six doubles and a .388 average.  Danie Brinkmann's seven doubles leads the team while Amanda Vaupel has six.  All told, seven of FHSU's starters are hitting above the .300 mark.
 
In the circle, Duran (3.11 ERA) is 8-4 overall with 63 innings pitched and 59 strikeouts.  Kelsey Kimminau (6-2) has a 3.36 ERA in 58.1 innings thrown, striking out 38.  Katlyn Kern's four saves ranks second in NCAA Division II in the early season.
 
Arkansas Tech (8-12, 3-9 GAC) is led offensively by Ashley Keen, who is hitting .435 after starting all 20 games.  Keen has five doubles and five home runs to slug .758.  Arkansas Tech's Whitney Robinson (.391) leads the team with six doubles.   Sydnee Clark (2.88 ERA) is 3-4 on the season with 23 strikeouts and 16 walks, and Victoria Huie (4.75 ERA) is 3-5 overall with 20 strikeouts.
 
The Tigers' road trip continues on Friday and Saturday (March 21-22) at Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma.
