HAYS, Kan. - The 23rd-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team looks to return to the win column Saturday afternoon (Jan. 21) when it faces off with Northwest Missouri State in another road MIAA contest. First tip with the Bearcats is set for 1:30 p.m. from Maryville, Mo.
The Tigers enter the contest 14-3 overall and 5-3 in MIAA play, on the heels of their first loss in over a month. Despite the loss, FHSU is still just two games back of first place in the conference standings. The Bearcats are 6-10 on the year and 1-8 in conference action, including a loss to Nebraska-Kearney their last time out.
Fort Hays State has reached the Top 25 on two separate occasions this season, including its current ranking of 23rd. The Tigers are 0-3 while ranked this year, and 14-0 in all other contests.
The Tigers hold a 12-9 lead in the all-time series against the Bearcats, but trail in games played in Maryville, 6-4. After losing the first six road games to Northwest, the Tigers have won four-straight inside Bearcat Arena. Fort Hays State is 10-3 against the 'Cats under head coach

Despite a poor shooting night Thursday,
Jill Faxon still leads the team with an average of 11.4 points per game, while
Kacey Kennett averages in double figures with 10.5 points per game.
Tatyana Legette grabs a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game, with Faxon (5.6) and
Emma Stroyan (5.5) also grabbing more than five boards each night.
The Bearcats are led by junior forward Tanya Meyer, who leads the conference with 19.5 points per game and ranks second with 9.3 rebounds per night. Arbrie Benson chips in 9.9 points per outing while Macy Williams leads the team and ranks third in the MIAA with 4.4 assists per game. The Bearcats shoot at a decent clip (43.7 percent), but are last in the conference with a -5.4 turnover margin.
