HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team will look to finish off its seven-game homestand undefeated Saturday afternoon (Jan. 7) when it hosts Southwest Baptist in another MIAA contest. First tip with the Bearcats is set for 2 p.m. The Tigers enter the weekend 12-2 overall and 3-2 in league play, while SBU is 10-3 this season and 2-2 in the MIAA.

Both squads are coming off narrow victories Thursday night, with Southwest Baptist topping Nebraska-Kearney on the road, 65-62, for its third straight victory and the Tigers making it six straight after holding off UCM, 69-59.

Fort Hays State leads the all-time series with SBU 10-7, winning eight of the nine contests played inside Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers have won seven of the last eight contests, with the lone loss knocking the Tigers out of the top ranking in the country last season. Fort Hays State is 9-4 against the Bearcats under Hobson, including a 7-0 record at home. After SBU won the first-ever meeting in Hays by one point, 86-85, the Tigers have won eight straight home games against the Bearcats.

The Tigers maintain a top-10 offense nationally, averaging 82.2 points per contest. Fort Hays State once again leads the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.35. The Black and Gold are led offensively by
Jill Faxon (11.8 points per game) and
Kacey Kennett (10.3 ppg).
Tatyana Legette grabs 7.8 rebounds per game, sixth in the MIAA. The sophomore also ranks seventh in the league with 1.2 blocks per outing.
Nikola Kacperska leads the team in both assists (3.4 per game) and steals (2.0 per game), while
Emma Stroyan blocks an MIAA-best 2.7 shots per contest.

Southwest Baptist is off to a good start this season, gathering an 8-1 non-conference record including a victory over defending National Champion Lubbock Christian. SBU has played just three true road games so far this year, losing two of them. The Bearcats are led by Megan Rosenbohm with 14.5 points per night, while Caylee Richardson chips in 11.7 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game. Alex Botkin dishes out a team-high 3.1 assists each outing.

Up next, the Tigers will hit the road for the first time in over a month when they travel to play at Nebraska-Kearney at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 12).
