HAYS, Kan. – After a stretch of eight games away from home, the Fort Hays State softball team will take to the field at home once again on Tuesday (April 11) when they face off with Central Oklahoma. The Tigers and Bronchos will play a pair of afternoon games with the first pitch set for 1 p.m. The doubleheader opens a 10-game home stand for the Tigers over the next two weeks.
 
FHSU enters the matchup at 11-33 overall and 4-14 in the MIAA. UCO is currently 32-8 overall and 12-4 in the conference, but will be taking on Nebraska-Kearney for two games before heading to Hays on Tuesday.
 
Candace Bollig has been hot as of late for the Tigers, hitting .368 (7-for-19) with two RBI, one run and one stolen base over the last six games and improving her season average to .281. Freshman catcher Tess Gray leads the offense with a .309 average and ranks third on the team with 20 RBI.
 
Central Oklahoma is as well-rounded a team the Tigers will face all season, batting .344 on the year to go along with an MIAA-leading ERA of 1.87. Scoring against the Bronchos has been a chore for opponents all season long, with the Bronchos leading the nation with 18 shutouts on the year.
