Fort Hays State Softball will host Nebraska-Kearney in the final MIAA doubleheader of the season on Saturday (Apr. 22) at Tiger Stadium in Hays. The doubleheader at 2 pm will serve as Senior Day for the Tigers. Three seniors will be honored between games. FHSU enters at 14-38 overall, 6-18 in the MIAA, while UNK enters at 9-43 overall, 5-19 in the MIAA.

The seniors playing in their final home doubleheader are
Kylie Strand,
Claudia Vazquez, and
Ashley Beavers. Strand is in her fourth year with the program, while Vazquez and Beavers have each spent two years at FHSU after transferring from junior colleges.

The Tigers have split their last three doubleheaders. Opponents in that run included Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri State, and Newman. FHSU and UNK close out the season this weekend. Both are mathematically eliminated from MIAA Tournament contention. FHSU and UNK are scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader as well on Sunday in Kearney at 1 pm.

Hailey Chapman has won three of her last four starts in the pitching circle. She has thrown complete games in 23 of her 27 starts this season.

At the plate,
Tess Gray is the only Tiger with a batting average above .300 for the season, currently at .306.
Candace Bollig is just shy of .300 at .298, while
Bailey Kennedy and
Veronica Knittig are also above .290. Gray is the team leader in RBI as well with 25 for the season.

Nebraska-Kearney is 2-4 in its last six games, splitting doubleheaders with Northwest Missouri State and Chadron State, while dropping both games of a doubleheader to Missouri Western.
