Fort Hays State continues its road appearances as it travels to Emporia State on Sunday (Sept. 17) for a non-conference match up against the Hornets. The Tigers bring in a 2-1-2 overall record so far this season, while they take on a 4-1 Emporia State team prior to official MIAA play.

In their last match, the Tigers recorded their first loss of the season after falling in to the Golden Goal rule against Nebraska-Kearney in their third-consecutive overtime match. The Tigers are now scoreless in the last six halves played. Emporia State is coming off a 2-1 win against fellow MIAA foe in Washburn.

Eden Stoddard continues to lead her Tigers for her senior campaign as she holds a team-high three goals on the season in 12 shots. Kristen Thompson also has 13 saves on the season for Fort Hays State. The Tigers have slightly outshot their opponents 50-46.

For the Hornets, they have a 61-56 advantage in shots over their opponents in five matches. Ashlynn Summer and Kennedy Hoffman for Emporia State lead the Hornets with two goals a piece. Bethany Reeves has been in goal for Emporia State in all five contests with 19 saves on her stat line.

With this being the 11^th all-time meeting between the Tigers and Hornets, Fort Hays State leads the series at 6-1-3. In the last matchup between the two in-state foes, the Tigers captured the 1-0 victory in Emporia.
