The women's basketball team looks to get back to .500 in MIAA play Saturday (Jan. 6) when the Tigers travel to Bolivar, Mo. to take on Southwest Baptist. First tip is set for 1:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center.

Coming off their first loss in nearly a month, the Tigers head into the weekend 11-3 on the year and 2-3 in conference play. The Bearcats dropped their fourth game in their last five outings on Thursday, falling to 8-5 on the year and 0-4 in the league.

The series with SBU did not start until FHSU joined the MIAA in 2006, with the Tigers leading, 12-7. The Bearcats, however, hold a 6-3 edge in games played in Bolivar. The Tigers are 11-4 against Southwest Baptist under head coach
Tony Hobson, including a 3-4 mark in road games. While SBU controlled the series over the first few years, Fort Hays State has dominated of late, winning three in a row and nine of the last 10 contests.

The Tigers look to bounce back from a tough loss against No. 11 Central Missouri on Thursday, 71-51. The offense struggled to get off the ground, committing a season-high 18 turnovers. The Tigers are 0-3 so far this season when committing 16 or more turnovers and are undefeated when making 15 or fewer miscues.
Tatyana Legette scored six points in the loss, matching her lowest output of the season, but still managed four assists and seven rebounds. The junior maintains her team lead in a multitude of categories, including points (13.3 ppg), rebounds (8.1 rpg), assists (2.7 apg) and steals (2.2 spg).

The balanced FHSU offense is the only one in the league with four players averaging 10 or more points.
Kacey Kennett (13.0 ppg),
Taylor Rolfs (10.3 ppg) and
Carly Heim (10.2 ppg) also average in double figures for the Tigers.

Southwest Baptist enters the weekend in search of their first conference victory. The Bearcats had a successful non-conference season, knocking off a top-10 ranked Drury team early in the year. They score at an impressive clip, ranking third in the league with 78.6 points per night. However, they are 12th in the conference in scoring defense, allowing 72.2 points each game. Senior Megan Rosenbohm leads the league and ranks 15th in the country with 21.2 points per game, while leading the team with 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per contest. Junior forward Caylee Richardson leads the team with 7.7 rebounds each night.
