The Fort Hays State women's basketball team has the opportunity to match its season-long winning streak Thursday evening (Feb. 8) when the Tigers take on Northeastern State at 5:30 p.m. FHSU has won its last six games, and a victory in Tahlequah, Okla. would match its season-opening streak of seven straight.

The Tigers enter the contest 18-4 overall and 9-4 in MIAA play, while the RiverHawks are 9-11 on the year and 5-8 in league action.

Fort Hays State is 9-3 all-time against Northeastern State, including a 3-2 record in Tahlequah. All but one of those games have been played since NSU joined the MIAA in 2012, with head coach
Tony Hobson accumulating an 9-2 record against the RiverHawks. The Tigers are currently riding an eight-game winning streak made up of three road games, four home contests and one neutral site tussle. The Tigers swept the season series last year, winning by a combined 53 points in the two games.

Hobson has led the Tigers to success in the Sooner State, accumulating a 7-4 record while playing in Oklahoma during his tenure.

The Tigers have left little in doubt during their current winning streak, outscoring opponents by more than 20 points over the last six wins, all of which came against MIAA opponents.
Carly Heim led the team with 20 points against Washburn, giving the junior an average of 17.4 points over the last five contests.

The RiverHawks are better at home than they are on the road this season, going 5-4 inside the NSU Event Center to date. They average 65.4 points per contest while allowing 67.8 points every night, ranking 12th in the league in point differential (-2.4). NSU ranks fourth in the conference in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot 38.0 percent this season. Cailyn Long leads the RiverHawks on offense, scoring 11.6 points per contest. Bailee Eldred grabs a team-high 5.1 rebounds per game while Tree Brooks ranks eighth in the MIAA with 3.0 assists each outing.
