Coming off three wins in four games last weekend, the Fort Hays State Softball team travels to Colorado for a pair of doubleheaders with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents. The Tigers will take on Metro State on Tuesday (Mar. 20) at 4 pm MT (5 pm CT) and then Colorado Christian at 12 pm MT (1 pm CT) on Wednesday (Mar. 21).

This past weekend at home, FHSU swept Lincoln and split with Lindenwood in a pair of conference doubleheaders. Tiger bats are heating up as they scored 49 runs on the weekend, 36 coming in the doubleheader again Lincoln. FHSU scored at least six runs in each game, with the extreme being 23 in the 18-run win over Lincoln. That was the largest margin of victory over an opponent in program history.

Bailey Boxberger had a huge weekend, hitting .438 with three doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI, and seven runs scored.
Bailey Kennedy also torched opposing pitchers, hitting .692 for the week with four doubles, six RBI, and six runs scored. Both slugged 1.000 for the weekend.

Candace Bollig,
Lily Sale, and
Sarah Kay all hit .500 for the weekend, while Bollig led the team in runs scored with eight.

Megan Jamison did a terrific job in relief for the Tigers last weekend, throwing 8.2 innings with just one run allowed. She had a great outing of 6.2 innings against Lindenwood, striking out five batters in the contest. She put together an 0.81 ERA for the week.
Sierra Rodriguez picked up wins in both of her starts last week, striking out six over 10.2 innings of work.

Metro State enters Tuesday at 10-18 overall. The Roadrunners dropped all four of their conference games to Colorado Christian this past weekend. Metro State averages 4.6 runs per game, but its pitching staff has struggled to a 6.65 ERA as a team this year. All three of their pitchers have ERAs above 6.00.

Colorado Christian enters Wednesday at 23-2 overall. Despite the tremendous overall record, the Cougars have yet to crack the top 25 of the NFCA Division II rankings. The Cougars are hitting .386 as a team, which is second-best in the nation, having six players with .400 or better batting averages. Their 8.88 runs per game ranks fourth nationally. In the circle, CCU has a team ERA of 4.38, led by Kenzie Mattey at 3.37 with a 12-1 record. She nearly has a 1:1 strikeout per inning ratio with 79 strikeouts in 82.2 innings of work.
