Fort Hays State Softball will play its first two home games of the season on Wednesday (Mar. 16) against Oklahoma Baptist University. The doubleheader at Tiger Stadium is set to begin at 11 a.m. The Tigers enter the contest at 10-14 overall on the season, while the Bison are 14-9 overall and play at Newman University in Wichita on Tuesday before making the trek up to Hays.

The Tigers are coming off a pair of setbacks in their MIAA-opening doubleheader at Missouri Western on Monday. After a 2-6 start to the season, the Tigers have posted an 8-8 record in their last 16 contests. The Tigers play their next four contests at home, which includes this doubleheader with Oklahoma Baptist and then a doubleheader with Bethany College on Sunday (Mar. 20).

Sarah Tiffany has been red-hot at the plate over the last six games with a .647 batting average, seeing her season batting average elevate to .389. In the circle,
Bailey Carlson leads the Tigers with a 2.78 ERA, followed by
Savanah Egger at 3.21. Egger is averaging nearly a strikeout per inning with 68 in a team-leading 72 innings of work.

This doubleheader will mark the first games between FHSU and OBU in Hays. The Bison hold a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series, but all seven previous games have been played in the state of Oklahoma. All but one of the previous games were played on neutral fields. Oklahoma Baptist won a neutral site meeting between the teams earlier this season in Oklahoma City by a score of 5-0.
