The Fort Hays State track and field teams will host their lone home meet of the season on Thursday (April 27) with the annual FHSU Alex Francis Classic. Action from the FHSU Track & Field Facility is slated to begin at noon with several field events before the first race on the track commences at 2 p.m.
 
There are currently more than 500 entries representing 11 institutions, including two conference rivals in Washburn and Nebraska-Kearney.

The Tiger women enter the week ranked 15th in Division II according to the latest USTFCCCA National Rating Index. The women also sit in third in the MIAA rankings and fifth in the central region.
 
The Tiger men currently rank 34th nationally, seventh in the conference and eighth in the region.
 
Six Tiger event squads rank inside the top 10 in Division II, including the women's 400m hurdles team (second), the women's javelin unit (fourth), the men's 800m crew (fourth), the men's pole vault squad (seventh), the men's javelin assembly (ninth) and the women's 100m hurdles group (10th).
 
This will be the sixth iteration of the Alex Francis Classic held at the FHSU Track & Field Facility, opened in the fall of 2016.
 
Thursday will be the final tune-up for the Tigers before they travel to Jefferson City, Mo. to compete at the 2023 MIAA Outdoor Championships May 5-7.
